Statement and clarification on the misinformation and gross baseless allegations leveled against his holiness the Karmapa's integrity

First of all as stated by His Holiness the Karmapa, we all the Tibetans living in India strongly feel India as our second home. We are indebted to the people and the government of India for giving us Asylum and unconditional support.

The Tibetans in and around the world strongly refutes with the alleged media information and broadcasting of Karmapa’s linkage with the Peoples Republic of China in view of the recent cash stash incident and raids at the former’s residence.

The reasons for the Karmapa’s flee from Tibet as he quotes “I left my country to impart the Buddha's teachings in general and, in particular, to receive the excellent empowerments, transmissions, and instructions of my own Karma Kagyu tradition. These I could only receive from the main disciples of the previous Karmapa, Situ Rinpoche and Gyaltsap Rinpoche, who were predicted to be my teachers and who reside in India”.

In the meantime, the Karmapa's office has also issued a statement refuting allegations about the China link, terming them 'grossly speculative'. "We would like to categorically state that the allegations being levelled against the Karmapa and his administration are grossly speculative and without foundation in the truth. We categorically deny having any link whatsoever with the Chinese government," said the statement.

The office of the Karmapa explained that the cash was "offerings received for charitable purposes from local and international disciples the world over. Monasteries across the world `receive offering from devotees in various forms. There is nothing surprising, new or irregular in this."

The Indian media, quoting unnamed security sources, have reported concerns that the Karmapa could be a Chinese stooge sent to India from Tibet to set up pro-Chinese monasteries.
